This is Halloween!!

This years Jacobsen Halloween party turned into Ke'Nias book club plus Ridge and friends Halloween party.  The family party just didn't work out.  Everyone was busy this year and if someone can't come then it's not a party!  But I could not go through the month of Oct without planning a party and so this is what it turned into....
Had to keep it in-line with book club right??  So how about the Wise-Old Owl idea for invites??! The tubes were filled with those things you might find inside an owl...gummy body parts!!  yum yum!

Started the party with an after school snack....

And these are the snacks!

Pork Rinds aka Bats Wings!  He loved them haha

Vienna Sausage aka Witches Fingers..YUM!

Baby food apples bananas and prunes aka Monster Mash

Peach Nectar aka Pumpkin juice
Just a few pictures of that yummy game where boys were against girls and the first team to eat all there halloween yummys won!  Girls kicked it!!  BIG SURPRISE!!

Next game...On to the Hunt for Halloween!!

The list for the game...We had the Photo Challenge...Hard evidence Challenge...and the documentation challenge and a 40 min time limit!  Kids came back added up the points and once again the girls ruled!  The boys chose the best photo dress -up for the girls and the girls chose the best photo dress-up for the boys.  Each team was given a halloween bucket with masks that they were to wear while accomplishing their list and these were those winners..

The Awards..
Yep that really is snow!!  Nothing like trying to find Halloween when it's a marshmellow world!!

But Halloween was found and here is the proof!

We finished the party with donuts, hot chocolate and party bags.  And the winner of the candy corn guess was announced.

A fairly easy but fun Halloween party!  Happy Haunting!!

Bring on the Fall

First week of October just finishing up.  Halloween decor is up and ready.  Holiday celebration now in the works and colors and coolness of fall is happily received!  Memories will be written but the first week in pictures is non-existent.  What the heck is my deal?!!  Started off October with a ride over East Canyon and Emigration Canyon leaves were FABULOUS!  Was waiting for the perfect stop, which was everywhere but didn't stop :( ..stopped at Smash Burger for a bite (not impressed, 5 guys kicks!) and on over to Cabelas for fun??  ya FUN!  It is the season for the hunt so we checked out all the "stuff"  Ridge can hardly wait to turn 12.  Sunday Jaden was ordained an Elder so the  parents were up and we enjoyed dinner.  Yummy as usual because Ken and Dakotah were the chefs.  Steak, chicken and shrimp on the Q with all the yummys to go with.  Beautiful blessing given with the ordination and once again still trying to get through my mind that the older two kids are now young adults and praying that we have taught them the best we could and trusting they will rely heavily on the Father from above.  Monday FHE and Ghosts..the ones of Secret Service and so we began Boo-ing the neighborhood!  Kids favorite thing to do..Ghost to get rid of as they do "ghost-like service through out the week.  Ke'Nia rid herself of ghost quickly!  That age and the excitement of everything!!  Witches Stew and Bread Broomstix started the Halloween menu..Ghost "peeps" smores and a Webeloes den meeting with the "mad scientist"  making fog, soda pop volcanoes, rock candy suckers, and a dry ice bomb (found out later about that one because I had to leave with Ke'Nia for gymnastics)  Night Games playing GHOSTs in the Graveyard with 17 neighborhood children and a body that creeked and cried out and played the part well!  Beautiful night and lots of excited children!  Mummy Dogs played on the menu before the excitement, because halloween food is fun! A trip to Artic Circle for the Square Pumpkin and flashlight and a hockey game to follow played by my Nephew Dax Hobbs..ya you know the name..only the best Hockey player for Weber State!!  And then a quiet weekend to be enjoyed along with Conference.  Ken and the rest of the company partners are in Arizona collecting the Inc. 500 number #17 Award and some EXCITING things happening for the company.  Busy Busy first week!!  So until the next week...SCARY ON cackle cackle...

Read..REaD...READ!!

How do you get little girls excited to read??  Make it a party!  It's time to start up  homemaking skills and get learning.  We ( a couple of friends)  realized that dance and tumbling and soccer are great but will they be used much later on in life??  Are our girls being taught the things they will use throughout their life??  We thought we had better do something about that!  So we started a little co-op  where the girls could learn basic skills such as the importance of loving to learn and how to host, so Book Club was started!  They for sure need to know how to cook and not just from a box, so Cooking is part of the curriculum.  And what about the lost art of sewing??  Even if for repairs and alterations.  Sewing is also a part of our co-op.  And crafting??  Oh yes!  Every girl should know how to do a variety of crafts, because more than likely, they too will have little girls someday!  That's a pretty good variety of the necessities.   Lucky for me I have some very talented friends.  Here are some pictures of the first gathering of the year...  Tangled is our book and we learned just like Rapunzel we are Princesses too!  But not just Princesses to any King..but the King of all Kings.  We are daughters of a Heavenly Father and we have great potential to become Queens!  Love that!!

Miss Whitemyer just about ready to dig in!

Where are you going July??

So we had a great time at Bear Lake!  What started as a Friday and Saturday trip turned into a week long one for me and the younger kids.  We left for the lake on Thursday with the Baltazar family and hit the lake on Friday for some awesome all day wake boarding!  Came back in, just as a storm was coming in.  The teenage boys Dakotah, Jaden, Blake and Chad dropped us off and Jeff headed for the truck, but not before the boat ran out of gas and the winds picked up floating our cute kids and boat out farther and farther!  With one oar and 4 kids, Dakotah manned the oar and the other 3 jumped ship and swam their hearts out with boat in tow.  Against the wind, progress was way way way slow!  Thanks to a wave runner dude, they were saved and all was brought in as the storm came in without mercy!  Anyways Saturday the boys left to go jump out of an airplane (waiting on the pictures..and holy crap I let them..haha like I could have stopped them!)and us parents and young-uns  spent the day at the  Minatonka cave and came out to rain.  It was all good because the fun we had could not be dampened.  It was time for the Baltazars to leave (being in the Bishopric can cut little trips short haha) We stayed until Sunday and when it was time to leave, me and the kids decided we weren't ready to go back, so Ken left us there.  With enough clothing for the last 2 days we spent there and food to barely get us by, we enjoyed 4 more days!  That means I was without a shower for a WEEK!  I was soooo roughing it!  Good thing I'm pretty low maintenance :)  The kids and I took a Rhino ride up in the mountains and shot pellet guns on Monday.  Had just a little hic-up as we visited Gladys in Fish Haven for ice cream.  We went to leave and we couldn't get started.  Some very nice not so sober gentlemen tried to help out, and me and the kids were just praying our atv would start!  After an hour or so and me reassuring our so willing to help out helpers that we would be fine the Rhino started up and we took off quickly.  Fell asleep that night to rain and exhaustion.  My Uncle Jerry came up on Tuesday and was so kind to spend the next couple of days taking us around and filling up our time.  We visited the park, went to Montpelier for ice creams and hit the ice caves.  Learned alot about my Dads family and enjoyed every minute of spending time with him.  Kids fell in love with him and we were sad when it was time to leave.  What an AWESOME summer we have had.  Lots of memories and new relationships built.  Can't believe it's almost time to say good by to summer vacation.  So sad!
